Yom Ha'atzmaut 2019

Yom Ha'atzmaut

A day to celebrate Israel’s establishment, as well as her connection to South African.

Commemorated annually on the Hebrew date of 5 Iyar, Yom Ha’atzmaut marks the day on which David Ben-Gurion declared the creation of the State of Israel in 1948.
Each year, the SAZF hosts an electrifying event to honour Israel’s Independence Day featuring live musical performances, Israeli street food, and a mini shuk (market).

Yom Hazikaron 2019

Yom Hazikaron

Prior to the festivities of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel pays tribute to all the soldiers and victims of terror who have died in her name.

Yom Hazikaron, the Day of Remembrance, is observed throughout Israel by two sirens, one in the evening and one during the day, during which all activity stops – even driving on highways.
The SAZF hosts an annual Yom Hazikaron ceremony commemorating Israel’s fallen.
