The South African Union of Jewish Students (SAUJS) has had an extremely busy and successful start to the year. To open our year, we ran incredibly successful orientation weeks on Wits, Tuks, UJ and UCT campus.

Over and above this, we hosted four different opening events! These social events are aimed at bringing members of the young Jewish community together. The opening events of the National Committee, UCT Committee, Tuks Committee and UJ Committee had a combined attendance of well over 650 people!
This makes it our most successful opening season yet! We did not stop there! SAUJS National ran an Israel Activism Seminar with one of the StandWithUs educators in order to prepare our members to defend Israel on campus during Israel Apartheid Week.
We also celebrated #InternationalWomensDay with a social media tribute to the powerful women of SAUJS! SAUJS Wits also kept up the good work, running a daily morning minyan, as well as weekly “Lunch and Learn” events with some really inspiring guest speakers!

SAUJS Wits also partnered with the Business Women’s Association of South African to sell roses for Valentine’s Day, all the proceeds of which went to the Wits Food Bank.

With upcoming events such as a visit to Golden Acres Retirement Home to spread joy for Purim and with Israel Apartheid Week around the corner, we are working hard to ensure continued success!
